Traditional gamers may not agree with the statement that Angry Birds was the best game released in 2009, but they certainly can’t argue with the fact that it was one of the most influential, and now after being available on nearly every mobile device released, everyone can play Angry Birds PC.
Angry Birds PC Success
Shortly after the game’s original release, Angry Birds skyrocketed to the top of everyone’s radar, eventually it was also released on several different platforms and consoles (iOS, Android, PSP, PS3, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry Tablet OS, and Nintendo DS to name a few).
Angry Birds was originally available at a small cost, but all titles are now free thanks to an in-game advertising system that generates revenue for the developers.
The original Angry Birds game has seen the [plentiful] release of free downloadable content which added more levels and features; all level packs were eventually included in the base game install package.
Angry Birds sparked many knockoff titles, a few official title follow-ups and plenty of press and public attention for Rovio, the developers. Recently there has also been a rise in Angry Birds plush dolls, generally carried by department and children’s toy stores. There is even talks of an Angry Birds television show or feature film in the future.
Angry Birds has touched so many, and has subsequently transcended its virtual form into many alternate mediums and markets. With the availability of Angry Birds opening up for use on computers, PC owners can finally experience the hit sensation that is Angry Birds PC. Readers that wish for more in-depth coverage on Angry birds can visit the related Angry Birds game series.
Angry Birds PC Gameplay
Angry Birds is a basic puzzle/platform game that incorporates the use of physics to advance gameplay.
Players take control of several different bird classes and use their finger (or controller) to launch the birds at various structures in an attempt to knock them down. The game itself is slightly more complicated however as players are tasked with taking down pig characters that have been strategically placed throughout the various structures in each level. Players advance to the next level when all pigs have been destroyed.
To go just a little more in-depth, the birds are after eggs which have been stolen by a large number of green pigs. The pigs have thus sheltered themselves from harm, and from the angry birds, by using many different materials including wood, ice, and stone.
Players take control of various birds who have volunteered to be launched from a slingshot at the pigs. The birds can destroy the pigs in a couple ways that include striking or making contact with the pigs directly, or felling the structures which in turn come into contact and cause harm to the pigs.
As the game progresses players are given new bird types which each have their own special ability, but the game also becomes more difficult as the pigs grow in strength and begin to use tools of their own. A good example of one such pig tool, would be a large helmet that various pigs start wearing which deflects all damage done to the pig unless the helmet itself is destroyed first.
If all the available birds have been launched via the slingshot and any number of pigs still remain, players lose.
The controls are slightly different for the Angry Birds PC version as obviously computers lack touchscreen response features but the basic mechanics are the same. Players simply launch the birds using a mouse or keyboard instead of swiping their fingers in a gesture.
Angry Birds PC Titles
The original Angry Birds is the most famous, but it is certainly not the only official Angry Birds title available. Rovio has released several different Angry Birds titles that include new features, new locales and of course more of what we all love, angry birds.
Angry Birds of course got its start on mobile devices but has now been made available to anyone with a PC through several different opportunities.
Angry Birds PC can be played through Facebook, WebGL (using any standard web browser) through Google Chrome (Angry Birds Chrome) using the browsers web application store, or through the Intel AppUp store (which unfortunately costs money), however it should be noted that the other methods mentioned above are free from all costs.

Angry Turds is a game that features monkeys throwing – you guessed it, turds at hunters who have stolen their little monkey babies.
Chicks’n’Vixens features chickens who righteously launch themselves at foxes who have stolen their eggs – in nearly the same exact fashion as the birds in Angry Birds.
WWE Superstar Slingshot features WWE superstars that are shot at other wrestlers surrounded by protective structures (reminiscent of Angry Birds gameplay) in an attempt to reclaim the world wrestling championship title.
Crush the Castle is a great game that is nearly identical to Angry Birds only it takes place in a medieval setting and includes a small amount of gore. Players take control of a trebuchet and launch projectiles at elaborate castle structures in an attempt to annihilate enemy soldiers.
