At first the Nokia Lumia 800 bundle, at $899, seems on the pricey side of the consumer purchase spectrum, but after the included peripherals are included it’s easy to see the bundle is quite the deal!

Ok, so maybe $1,000 for a new phone is on the steep side, but unfortunately for anyone interested in purchasing the bundle- Microsoft and Amazon have partnered up, and are offering exactly the same prices.

Nevertheless, it’s still great to know what comes included in the bundle, so we’re going to break it down for you.

The Nokia Lumia 800 Smartphone

The Nokia Lumia 800 is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor combined with 512MB SDRAM. It features a 3.7 AMOLED glass touchscreen display, backed by the attractive Windows Phone OS. For storage the Nokia Lumia 800 includes 16GB of flash memory but no external microSD expansion slot which means no options for a later increase in storage space.

The device also includes an integrated 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus features, a 2x LED flash and full HD video capture support. Extra Nokia Lumia 800 features include integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support, USB 2.0 functionality, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR support, a micro USB input/output and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Nokia Lumia 800 works with 3G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900), and 3G WCDMA (850, 900, 1900, 2100) networks and is available in both a contractual and pay-as-you-go model. The Nokia Lumia 800 includes a full MSRP of £399.99 (by itself). But that’s enough about the smartphone, there’s other products included in the bundle.

The Nokia Lumia 800 Bundle

The Nokia Lumia 800 bundle includes the Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone, a pair of Nokia Play 360 Bluetooth speakers, a pair of Nokia Purity HD headphones and a Luna Bluetooth headset. Each device included in the bundle has a specific use, but obviously the emphasis here is to provide external audio support for the Lumia smartphone.

Nokia Play 360 Bluetooth Speaker – The Nokia Play 360 is a wireless bluetooth speaker that allows users to listen to music and audio through an external sound system while on the go. The Play 360 wireless speaker uses Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR support to provide a wireless connection to any Bluetooth enabled device. The speaker itself includes a frequency response range of 20-20000Hz and provides a full 360 degree omnidirectional sound profile, hence the name Play 360. In addition the Nokia Play 360 Bluetooth speaker includes a fully rechargeable lithium ion battery that has a rated use of 21 hours under continuous playback conditions.

Nokia Purity HD Headphones – The Nokia Purity HD headphones are designed to be compatible with all Windows phones and include support for audio playback and call/answering functionality.

The unique Purity HD ‘ControlTalk’ cable includes an integrated microphone, volume dial and answer/end key for use with Windows cellular devices. Of course, the standard 3.5mm headphone plug ensures the headset will work with most alternate audio devices as well. The Nokia Purity HD headset includes a frequency response range of 20-20000Hz with a combined impedance level of 32 ohms. The Purity HD headset is bundled with a carrying case, the unique ControlTalk cable, and a  standard 3.5mm plain cable.

Nokia Luna Bluetooth Headset – The Nokia Luna Bluetooth headset is a Bluetooth enabled earpiece that allows complete hands-free operation of any Windows or Nokia mobile device. In addition to Bluetooth support, the Luna headset also includes Near Field Communication functionality for use with NFC enabled devices as well. The Luna Bluetooth headset is bundled with a unique spherical cradle that allows for quick charging and added portability, and when on the go the dock also increases total battery life. The Luna’s integrated rechargeable battery has a rated talk time of 2 hours when used as a headset and an additional 6 when plugged into the dock/holder.

The Nokia Lumia 800 Bundle vs. The Nokia Lumia 900

Of course not everyone is going to be interested in all the items included in this bundle (or the whole bundle for that matter), so it stands to reason it would be great to have an alternative option. Considering the Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone does not include 4G LTE support, it would be relevant to suggest the similar Nokia Lumia 900 smartphone.

The Nokia Lumia 900 will be powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm APQ8055 Snapdragon CPU working alongside an Adreno 205 GPU and backed by 512MB of installed SDRAM. Other major features of the Lumia 900 include a Corning Gorilla glass AMOLED touchscreen display, the Windows Phone OS, and 16GB of internal storage.

But obviously the most important Nokia Lumia 900 feature is the 4G LTE support. With most carriers slowly starting to make the change to a complete 4G broadcast signal it won’t be long before a 4G device is needed- or at least until all consumers want to take advantage of the increased 4G speeds. The Nokia Lumia 900 is a great device on its own and includes pretty much the same features as the Lumia 800, it’s also been rumored that the 900 will see much lower retail prices when combined with a 2 year service and contract agreement.
